Padre Pio and the presence of the Heavenly Mother in his life

The figure of Madonna she was always present in Padre Pio's life, accompanying him from his childhood until his death. He felt like a sailboat pushed by the breath of the Celestial Mother.

Already from the age of five, Padre Pio began to live ecstasies and apparitions, which he believed were ordinary things that happened to all souls. Only later did he reveal to Father Agostino of San Marco in Lamis, that the apparitions also included those of the Virgin Mary. The latter, in fact, accompanied Padre Pio during his mass and in the sacrament of Reconciliation, showing him the countless souls waiting to be acquitted.

Mary's presence was also fundamental during the prayers of the saint, especially when he interceded for the needy. He himself admitted that his prayers alone had little or no effectiveness, but when they were accompanied by the intercession of Our Lady, they became almost omnipotent.

What did the Madonna represent for Padre Pio

Padre Pio also found comfort and support in Mary in the difficult moments of her life. For him this figure was reassuring. He also tried to inculcate Marian devotion in his followers children spiritual, guaranteeing that the Madonna would intervene at her sign, doing escape despair.

At the end of his life, the friar from Pietralcina was not deprived of the loving presence of the Virgin Mary. Before he died, his gaze was fixed on the wall of his cell where the photos of his parents were hung, but he claimed to see two moms. Furthermore, at the time of his death, Padre Pio he continually repeated the names of Jesus and Mary.

Padre Pio was in love with the Madonna and always tried to transfer this love to his spiritual and devoted children. Even though he wished he had a strong voice to invite sinners around the world to love Our Lady, he relied on prayer so that his little angel accomplished this task for him.
