Supplication to the Madonna delle Grazie, protector of the most needy
Mary, mother of Jesus is venerated with the title of Our Lady of Graces, which contains two important meanings. On the one hand, the title underlines the role of Mary as the true mother of Christ, and therefore as the mother of divine Grace which descended among men for the redemption of sins and as the bearer of salvation. On the other hand, this denomination refers to the Graces that Mary grants to men, interceding for them with God the almighty Father.
Our Lady of Graces therefore represents one loving mother and affectionate, but also a merciful intermediary who, thanks to her immaculate birth and to her tragic condition as a mother who lost her son, she has the right to pray God on behalf of all humanity.
This worship has had a wide diffusion and there are numerous festivity dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie in Italy, each with their own methods and traditions developed independently over the centuries. Often these celebrations are intertwined with other manifestations of the Marian cult and are linked to apparitions and miracles in which the Madonna delle Grazie has been the protagonist over time.
The figure of the Madonna delle Grazie represents a ideal of a woman which, in certain aspects, even precedes Mary herself and which is found in theOld Testament. However, it is in Mary that this ideal finds its definitive consecration, she is the bearer of one humble faith, listen to the Word of God and accept His will unconditionally.
Prayer to Our Lady of Grace
O Mother of Graces, We are here today to pray to you, You who are full of love and mercy, accept our pleas. Our Lady of Graces, protector of the needy listen to our hearts and our needs. Grant us your grace and comfort, And guide us on the path of salvation.
You who are loving mother and compassionate, Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, begs for his for us mercy and help us pursue eternal life. Madonna of Graces, give us the strength to face trials and give us inner peace and serenity. Guide us towards the joy of your love and grant us your continued protection.
O Mother of Graces, you we humbly pray, welcome our pleas and prayers and give us the grace to live according to the will of God, so that we can reach our heavenly goal. Amen
